Seattle Sikh Wedding Ceremony

Last year, Loren and I were unloading equipment and telling each other about our separate weddings of the day we'd just photographed and he was just gushing over the cool, hilarious, and frankly brilliant (hello - brain surgeon!) groomsman that he'd hung out with all day.

Flash forward.  Anna and Amitoz - that awesome groomsman - got in touch with us just a few months later as Anna was making her big move to Seattle, ending a year of long distance love, to start their lives out here in advance of their own wedding.  She was coming out from North Carolina as they met each other as she got her Masters at Duke while Amitoz was there for his surgery residency.

Sweet, sincere, and perhaps a little overwhelmed by the epic Sikh and Western style weddings that laid ahead for them, we had the best time with them through their planning process with countless texts and bouncing ideas all around.

On a beautiful Saturday morning, I arrived at the Gurudwara Sikh Centre of Seattle for the traditional Sikh wedding ceremony and this is a look at that day.  Special shout outs to Anna's dad who not only danced his heart out at the baraat and milni to the delight of everyone but really went for it with his mustache - curling it up with lip gloss when no mustache wax was to be found, lol!

The next day, the celebration continued at Newcastle Golf and Country Club with our friends from Wonderstruck Event Design and Flora Nova.  You do not want to miss seeing part two!
