The Seattle Wedding Show 2017 Recap

So, we chat with lots of engaged couples and we always want to know "How did you meet?"  We've heard so many incredible stories and then, we have to tell them how Loren and I met.  I'm not actually sure why I'm shy about it and as far as we can pinpoint, it's one of those things where we knew of each other as participants in the same industry but when we drill down.  Loren and I met at the Seattle Wedding Show.

So it's kind of sweet that each year we disassemble our West Seattle studio and transport it over to the convention center to connect with new clients and see our friends and colleagues.  Each year, I slip away for a bit and photograph some of the incredible designs that our fellow exhibitors have created. All of the images that follow are from actual booths but it's our preference to photograph them as we would a wedding.  Who needs a booth photo, lol?  We hope you are inspired by these fresh designs, too!

Seattle Met Bride & Groom's The Art of Love/Fierce Like Frida Issue

SMBG always has an incredible display as they tap a different coordinator/design team each year.  This year's team was From the Ground Up Floral, Kelsey Eads, Sugarcomb, and La Tavola Linen.  As you'll see in lots of this year's images, texture is coming on strong!

Weddings With Wendy

Speaking of texture, Weddings with Wendy along with Anna of Distinctive Design Florist brought all the texture of the Northwest into the convention center space.  A full moss wall with airplants and chair decor made for a striking ceremony space.

Aria Style

John from Aria Style always innovates like crazy for the Seattle Wedding Show and every year you think "How's he going to top it?"  Somehow he does.  This year, I had to do a double take as it registered that he had recreated Van Gogh's Starry Night completely in flowers and framed out.  Not to mention the floral monograms.  Always amazing ideas with Aria Style.

Grand Event Rentals

Talk about rose colored glasses!  Grand Events had incredible textures going on in their dishware and then accented it all with rose gold/copper flatware.  It was pure celebration!  I loved how they paired it with a more rustic linen napkin and a modern acrylic menu made by Impress Ink Design.  Just, wow!

LAUREL'S FLORAL DECOR

We adore Laurel's Floral Decor and her romantic creations.  There's always an extra touch of whimsy in her designs.  This year it was fun to see a little more of the dramatic and dark look in her display.  And of course, lots of gold!

HOTEL BELLWETHER

Taking an excursion from our booth and walking around the show, I couldn't pass up a closer look at the Hotel Bellwether and chatting with their staff.  Their display was a stunner and now we're really interested to have an event at their really darling Bellingham venue!

SWEET PEA EVENTS

We're huge fans of the team over at Sweet Pea!  Not only do their events run perfectly, but their taste and sense of style is always contemporary and on point.  This was on full display with their eye catching design that just exuded celebration.  They teamed up with Gather Design Company (this will be a trend!) and Fanciful Rentals and the results were photo perfection!  Amy of Gather, hand dyes those beautiful linens!

LILAC CAKE BOUTIQUE

If we gave out blog awards, I think Lilac Cake Boutique would take it for most featured.  What can we say about her creations?  We are just smitten!  And Karolina, the chef, is just the sweetest (!) most open hearted person to work with, too!  She's teamed up with Gather Design Company - remember, they are doing the Valentine's gifts! - Vintage Ambiance and Simply by Tamara Nicole to plan, design, and execute and incredible display.  Now, remember, the wedding show is in a giant expo hall.  Booth after booth is side by side and row by row and through their incredible design, standing amongst her cakes on a MARBLE FLOOR they brought in, you feel transported to a European art gallery.  It was magnificent and a perfect backdrop for her confections!

No detail was overlooked by this team.  The cakes had individual lighting, the custom menu cards had hand stamped wax seals and hand torn deckled edges.

RAVISHING RADISH CATERING

Another massive transformation of the space happened over at the Ravishing Radish display.  Using their floral talents as Ravissant, they created an entire greenery back wall from which their Seattle Farm Table, plated with all sorts of yummies just popped off the background.  Along with the dark and moody colors and the gold that we're seeing as strong trends, so too are the taper candles.

SAL FLORAL DESIGN

Speaking of dark and moody, if there was one booth that went all the way in for it, it had to be Sal Floral Design.  We look forward to what Sal is doing every year and even had past designs of his go viral on our Pinterest board.  This year, I was absolutely floored with the creativity of his design.  He literally dreamed it!  Beyond the amazing florals and design perfection, I am so impressed by his ability to rig and set up the designs to last through multiple show days!  Just look at this moody masterpiece.

CORT PARTY RENTAL

Rental companies probably have some of the trickiest booths to design since they can feature so many different offerings.  Cort always does a great job with a curated eye and this year was no different as they showed three different looks in one space.  They went from a rustic and modern look with all their rentable tables, chargers, linens, flatware, glassware, plates, chairs, and chair covers - whew!  To (here's that word again) a textural display with flashy copper mule mugs and linen napkins.  The floral talents of Fena Flowers accented it all!

VINTAGE AMBIANCE

I think the wedding world has liked to think of Vintage Ambiance as our stylish secret weapon but it's no secret anymore.  The owner, Beckie, is constantly on the hunt for the most incredible vintage pieces all over the country.  She works with expert furniture restorers and is giving these treasures a new life.  You can absolutely see the love and time spent on all of her collection and they are just good vibes to have at any party.

For her display - the FIRST time she's done one at the show - she used the 1954 Audrey Hepburn film Sabrina as her inspiration.  Teaming up (again!) with Gather Design Company, Lilac Cake boutique, and that perfect clear tent from Alexander Party Rental, this concept and incredible booth won her the award for best booth in the show!
